This dataset contains results for module A1, A2 and A3 according to DIN EN 15804.349Mineralplatte (wet‐felt) 15mm / 1m²The data set represents the weighted production of three German companies. In this Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) a mineral panel of 15 mm of the company WETEC is described. Mineral panels consist of mineral wool, filling material, binder, etc. These materials are mixed with water to prepare a slurry which is transformed in a plate and dried afterwards.
The LCA results include the life cycle stages of the production of primary products, mining, processing operations and input secondary materials (eg recycling processes), their transport to the factory and the production itself, including the provision of all supplies and materials, energy, and the complete waste treatment or landfilling of residual waste during the production stage. The modules A1, A2 and A3 are shown here as an aggregate module A1-A3. If these data were calculated for other modules, you will find them separately and for a consideration of the entire life cycle can be merged.
Declared is an average mineral plate of 15 mm and a an average density of 280,4 kg/m3.Mineral panels are typically used as cladding for suspended ceilings, door inserts, cover by building structures, wall and ceiling panels, etc.LCI resultAttributionalNoneAllocation - market valueAllocation - net calorific valueAllocation - exergetic contentAllocation - massFOREGROUND system:
For thermal recycling (incinerator) input specific credits (according to composition and calorific value) are taken into consideration in A3. Since production takes place in Germany, credits refer to German situation.
Thermic recycling is modelled for production waste.
Allocation of production data took place at the company level (allocation of multi-output processes). Allocation of data refers to sales volume per area and 15mm standard board.
BACKGROUND system: For the combined heat and power production, allocation by exergetic content is applied. For the electricity generation and by-products, e.g. gypsum, allocation by market value is applied due to no common physical properties. Within the refinery allocation by net calorific value and mass is used. For the combined crude oil, natural gas and natural gas liquids production allocation by net calorific value is applied. For details please see the document "GaBi Databases Modelling Principles"NoneThe cut-off criteria were set in accordance with the relevant ISO standard 14040 as follows:
All flows contributing to more than 1% in mass, energy and environmental relevance were taken into consideration.
The sum of the neglected material flows does not exceed 5 % of mass, energy or envi-ronmental relevance. Cut-off criteria have been applied on unit processes and not on calculated inventories.NoneSeveral data sources have been averaged. Average values are the ones used in the inventory. Data for the production of mineral panels at the production sites of the three companies was collected by data questionnaires. These three companies cover 100 % of the mineral panel production within the WETEC organization. Data was subsequently verified in telephone conferences and meetings with specialist staff from the three companies. For competative reasons the primary data was supplemented with data based on literature. The GaBi 5 software system was used for generating the model of the production and as the source of background LCA information. The average environmental burdens of the national power grid mix of Germany was used in the model. In case of an independent steam or energy supply at the production site, additional data were collected and modeled in GaBi 5.NoneData was collected and treated to ensure the resulting inventory is representative for the production of mineral plates. This dataset is based on production data from 2009 for 15mm mineral panels. They represent 100% of the WETEC organization.
The dataset is representative for the state of technology in 2009and should be reviewed for technological change in 10 years.NoneGaBi databasesIBU-Umweltproduktdeklaration WETEC: Mineralplatte (wet-felt) 15 mm (EPD-WTC-2012111-D), 2012100.0The environmental profile includes the expenses of the life cycle stage "cradle to gate".
